A Night of Irish Fun and Feasting in Red Bank Raises $70,000 for CINJ
Winter snow storms could not dampen the spirits of nearly three hundred revelers who joined host Ed McKenna and his family and friends for an evening of Irish music and merriment in Red Bank, New Jersey on February 6th. Over Dr. Lorna Rodriguez and Edward J. McKenna.$70,000 was raised to support CINJ at a festive party that honored the life of Christine J. McKenna, Mr. McKenna's wife of 37 years. Christine lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2009, but Mr. McKenna told the crowd of well-wishers that he and his wife "had five precious years we would not otherwise have had because of the extraordinary skill and compassionate care she receive at CINJ." He singled out Drs. Lorna Rodriguez and Darlene Gibbon for special praise, and they, in turn, spoke movingly about Christine McKenna's courage and determination, including her participation in clinical research studies. CINJ Director Dr. Robert DiPaola thanked the crowd at the Two Rivers Theatre and gave examples of the Institute's cutting-edge research and breakthrough discoveries, including the pancreatic cancer vaccine clinical trial that has just launched. He extended a gracious invitation to everyone to visit CINJ for a tour.

The CINJ Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Ed McKenna and his family, to the local restaurants and others who donated generously to support the event (below), and to the entire community who came together to honor the life of Christine McKenna, and to support new discoveries for all people with cancer.
