About The Cancer Institute of New Jersey
As New Jersey's first and only National Cancer Institute(NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) is dedicated to improving the prevention, detection, treatment, and care of patients with cancer, through the transformation of laboratory discoveries into clinical practice and provides education and outreach regarding cancer prevention, detection and treatment. The coveted NCI designation, awarded to only 40 such centers nationwide, is granted competitively to institutions characterized by scientific excellence and the ability to bring research discoveries to patients.
CINJ offers world-class quality cancer care providing the most advanced medicines and treatment options for patients in its New Brunswick facility as well as at its Network of sixteen hospitals across the state. CINJ physicians manage more than 90,000 patient visits per year. CINJ incorporates the varied disciplines that define advanced state-of-the-art approaches in comprehensive cancer care for adults and children, providing access to the latest medicines and most advanced treatment options available.
A dedicated team of nationally renowned specialists including medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, social workers and nurses identify and meet the needs of the individual. Each multidisciplinary team focuses on a specific disease and is led by an academic physician who is an expert in the cause and treatment of that disease. CINJ is committed to treating each and every patient with the utmost compassion and respect, and providing treatment options such as clinical trials that are as unique as the patients themselves.
CINJ is one of the leading cancer research facilities in the country. Its research programs and core facilities enhance and support the cancer research of close to 200 faculty members. Basic scientists, clinical researchers, and population scientists meet regularly to exchange information and ensure that laboratory discoveries are refined and applied to clinical care as quickly as possible, that clinical observations reach laboratory researchers on a continuing basis, and that prevention strategies are interwoven in to all research programs.
